Q: What’s the best way to brush my pony’s tail? It’s thick and difficult to get a brush through.
A: Tails need some care to get them into shape. Start by standing at the side of your pony and taking his tail in one hand. Shake a few hairs free and brush through these with a body brush, making sure every strand is clean. Then shake out some more and repeat until the whole tail is finished.
There are some great mane and tail conditioners you can spray on to keep your pony’s tail dirt- and tangle-free. You can also detangle tails with your fingers – but don’t use a dandy brush or a curry comb on the tail as you’ll break and pull out the hairs. Rather a messy tail than a bald tail!
