#HQHack1000

At HQ we have started a new project – and we want you and your ponies to be involved. The project is called #HQHack1000 and it involves you hacking 1000km with your pony over the next year or so. Each time you hack all you have to do is track the number of kilometres that you travel – you can do this on your phone using an app (there are lots out there) or you can do it using a smart-watch or other tracking device. Alternatively you can just work it out from Google Maps (or ask an adult to work it out for you!) You then log the number of kilometres that you did that day on your tracking sheet (provided when you sign up) and keep track of the total. When you reach certain milestone distances (250km, 500km and 750km) you let us know and you and your pony will get a certificate and a badge to show that you have achieved that number of kilometres.

Hacking is so good for our ponies. It exposes them to more things, and gives them a break from all of the schooling in the arena. Lots of top riders like Charlotte Dujardin hack their horses and consider it an essential part of training (Charlotte regularly hacked Valegro!) Basically there are lots of reasons to do it, and we all love a challenge – especially with the holidays coming, and more pony time on the horizon!

To sign up go to https://horse.co.za/hqhack1000/ and fill in the online form. You will then be sent a tracking sheet. Once you are signed up you must start posting the pictures of you and your pony out and about on Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag #hqhack1000! We select the best pictures and put them in the magazine each month 🙂 So what are you waiting for? Get started!
