ASKPONY: PINNING EARS DURING GROOMING

Q: Why does my pony pin his ears back when I brush his tummy?

A: That’s your pony’s way of saying “I don’t like that!” Some ponies are ticklish, while others might have a sore tummy or even ulcers. If he swishes his tail, lifts a leg, or looks grumpy every time, it’s a sign something’s up.

Tell your instructor or an adult so they can take a closer look. In the meantime, try using a softer brush in that area, and watch your pony’s body language carefully. The more we listen to our ponies, the better we can care for them!
