SANESA DISCIPLINES: PRIX CAPRILLI

Ever wondered what happens when you mix dressage with a dash of jumping? That’s exactly what Prix Caprilli is!

Named after Captain Federico Caprilli, the Italian cavalry officer known as the father of the modern forward seat, this test combines classical dressage movements with a few small jumps.

🏇 What does it involve?

  • Riders perform a dressage test in a standard arena.

  • Low fences (usually cross poles around 60cm) are placed as part of the test.

  • Judges score it just like a normal dressage test: marks for accuracy, impulsion, submission, and rider effectiveness.

✨ The key: The jumps should feel like part of the flow — not a disruption. Relaxation, obedience, and even rhythm are more important than jumping style. Riders also need to show a position that supports the horse over the fences without interfering.

This fun discipline is a brilliant way to develop a balanced rider and a confident horse or pony — and it’s perfect for riders who enjoy both flatwork and jumping!

📌 SANESA Prix Caprilli is managed directly by SANESA and does not fall under the SAEF.
