SANESA DISCIPLINES: DRESSAGE FREESTYLE

Also known as Freestyle to Music or Kür, this discipline combines the elegance of dressage with the artistry of choreography.

Riders design their own routines, carefully matching movements and figures to music that best highlights their horse’s paces and personality. Each freestyle test must still meet the technical requirements for its level, but the creative element allows riders to show off harmony, rhythm, and flair in a unique way.

Dressage Freestyle isn’t just a test of skill; it’s also a performance. That’s why it has such strong audience appeal, captivating spectators with the feeling of watching horse and rider dance together.

This discipline is overseen by Dressage South Africa (DSA) and is part of the South African Equestrian Federation (SAEF).
