Showing is all about presenting your horse or pony to look and perform at his very best. Judges consider movement, manners, and ability in the ring, and at higher levels, conformation is also taken into account. For riders, it’s about the art of showing off your horse or pony to advantage with skill, balance, and polish.
At SANESA, Showing includes several classes:
- Show Riding Horse/Performance Riding – An easy, well-schooled ride with good manners and solid conformation.
- Working Hunter – A versatile horse that can jump a course of fences, gallop boldly, and show stamina.
- Working Riding Horse – Obedient, responsive, and willing to perform everyday tasks with a good attitude.
- In-Hand Utility Test – Leading your horse or pony through, over, and around obstacles on foot.
Showing is a fantastic way to build horsemanship and ringcraft, giving riders the foundation to ride effectively across many disciplines.
In South Africa, Showing is overseen by the Showing Association of South Africa (SASA) and is a member of the SAEF.
