Today, some of South Africa’s top horse-and-rider combinations will tackle the World Cup Qualifier at the aQuellé Foresyte Winter Classic.
But what exactly is a World Cup Qualifier?
Throughout the season, riders compete in special World Cup classes and collect points according to where they finish. These points count towards the regional World Cup standings, with the leading riders hoping to earn the opportunity to compete at the FEI Jumping World Cup Final.
The courses are big and technical, so this is a brilliant chance to watch how experienced riders:
• plan their turns
• adjust their horses’ strides
• keep their rhythm around a challenging course
• look after their horses while competing at the highest level
